NEET Counselling 2025 Process
NEET Counselling 2025 primarily consists of Registrations, Choice Filling, Choice Locking, Seat Allotment, Counselling Rounds, Upgradation, and Reporting to Colleges. These steps are essential to ensure a smooth admission into your desired medical or dental college. Below are the detailed steps to follow:
Step 1: Registration
Visit the Medical Counselling Committee's official website.
Click on 'UG Counselling Registrations' and fill the form with your personal and academic details.
Make payment via debit card or UPI.
Preview your form and download the PDF or take a printout.
Logout after registration and proceed to the Choice Filling section.
Step 2: Choice Filling
Log in with the same credentials used during registration.
Select from a wide range of medical and dental colleges — no limit on number of choices.
Save your filled choices and proceed to the locking stage.
Step 3: Choice Locking
Review and lock your selected choices carefully.
Once locked, changes are not allowed until the next round.
Step 4: Rounds of Counselling
The counselling is conducted in four main rounds:
• Round 1: Fresh registration, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification & reporting.
• Round 2: Auto-considered from Round 1 or fresh registration for new candidates.
• Round 3: Similar to Round 2 for unallocated or newly registered candidates.
• Stray Vacancy Round: Fresh registration, vacant seat filling based on merit. No upgrades or shifting allowed.
Step 5: Seat Allotment Process
Choices are locked after filling closes.
NEET rank and category are used to determine allotment.
Allocation is done based on:
• Your NEET score & category rank
• Locked choices
• Seat availability
Check results on MCC/state website.
If Allotted: Download the allotment letter, upload documents, and report to the allotted college.
If Not Allotted: Wait for the next round or apply in the Stray Vacancy Round.
Step 6: Upgradation
Applicable for candidates allotted in Round 1 or 2 only.
Check if you're eligible for upgrade in the next round.
Modify your choices (if allowed) and lock them again.
If Upgraded: Download new allotment letter and complete reporting process.
If Not Upgraded: Retain previous seat.
Step 7: Reporting to Allotted Colleges
Download allotment letter from MCC or state authority.
Prepare original documents: Admit card, scorecard, mark sheets, ID proof, category certificate (if applicable), etc.
Report physically to the allotted college within the deadline.
Submit documents for verification and pay admission fees.
Seat is confirmed upon successful verification and payment.
Upgradation Process for NEET Counselling 2025
Want a better college after your initial seat allocation? Upgradation rounds offer a chance! Here's how:
1. Check Eligibility:
Not all states/quotas offer upgradation. Check on official website.
Must have participated in previous round and not accepted any seat.
2. Participate in subsequent rounds:
Register and fill choices again during designated upgradation rounds.
Priority given to higher ranks, so revise choices strategically.
3. Wait for results:
New seat allotment results declared after each upgradation round.
Check if you've been upgraded and accept the seat if desired.
4. Reporting:
If upgraded, follow same reporting process as initial seat allocation.
Accept seat, download joining letter, and report to college.
NEET Counselling 2025 Reporting Process
Assuming you received a seat allotment:

Do this within the stipulated time mentioned in your allotment result. Usually involves confirming acceptance online.

NEET Counselling 2025 Merit List
Think of the NEET merit list as a giant leaderboard based on your score in the NEET exam. This leaderboard determines who gets called for counselling, which is where you get matched with medical colleges. Here's how it all works:
Ranks and Responsibilities:
NTA:Releases the All India Rank (AIR) list for 15% of medical seats under All India Quota (AIQ).
State Authorities:Release separate merit lists for 85% state quota seats and all private colleges in their state.
DGHS:Handles counselling for AIQ, deemed universities, and some other institutes using the NTA list.
State Counselling Authorities:Use their state merit list to assign seats to state quota and private colleges.
